How to Rescue a DVD+R Video Disk Recording
This guide refers to a DVD+R or DVD+RW disk that was recorded on a stand alone DVD recorder but it may as well do for any DVD video disk.
The problem
A DVD Video disk is not recognized by the stand alone DVD player or recorder (DVDR) or the PC DVD drive as the machine can not read its menu structure. However, the actual video files are there on the disk unattached.
The Solution
You can rescue the video recording of the DVD Video disk by using a PC and a couple of special software pieces.
Use this
method when the disk contains one title only that is, one continuous recording.

2. Right click on Track 02 and extract it to a directory on your hard disk.

After installation, first click on ‘New’ to select the PAL or NTSC disk type depending on the recorded original material.

5. Use the ‘Add’ image to select and open the ‘Track02.mpg’ file to DVDBuilder

6. Click on ‘Next’ to view the new disk Menu and personalize it by selecting the words on the right.

7. Click on ‘Next’ and select the directory (click op the blue area) where the new directories and files will be created.

8. Click on ‘Build’ and wait for the process to be completed.

9. Click on ‘OK’ and then close DVDBuilder.
Use Nero 6 and above http://www.nero.com/eng/index.html
Open Nero and click on the DVD-Video icon and then on ‘New’

10. The bottom part of the window with AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS will be automatically created by Nero. In the top part choose the directory where DVDBuilder created the files to be burned on the DVD disk.

11. Click and open the VIDEO_TS directory in both the top and bottom parts and drag and drop its content to the bottom empty part.

13. Now insert a blank DVD+R disk in the PC DVD+R drive and click on the burn image (the one with the match on the toolbar at the top of the Nero window.
Here’s your rescued disk with the originally recorder material. Test it and through away the original bad disk.
